Garage collapses during fire in Agawam

Hampden County

AGAWAM Mass. (WWLP) – Smoke could be seen from miles away this afternoon, as a garage in Agawam burned to the ground.

22News cameras caught the smoke rising into the air after the garage at 45 Oak Hill Road exploded at around 1 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters put out the flames, but the garage did collapse. Luckily, no one was hurt and there was virtually no damage to the home. Mutual aid had to be called in from Westfield.

Neighbors told 22News they heard a loud boom before the fire started, but the Agawam Fire Department couldn’t confirm what the sound was. The house seemed to be virtually untouched by the fire, and our 22News crew saw the residents standing outside, no one appeared to be injured.
