German culture was celebrated in Southwick Sunday.
Our Lady of the Lake Church hosted their annual Bavarianfest Sunday afternoon.
The Oktoberfest inspired event was created as a social activity intended to bring all neighborhoods together.
The church’s pavilion was decorated to create a Bavarian village atmosphere. Guests enjoyed beer and Bratwurst.
“It’s a happy event, a social event,” said Father Henry Dorsch. “We call it the “gemuetlichkeit” in German. That word means relaxed and enjoying yourself. Hanging out with friends.”
Games, food and raffle prize tickets were all available for sale.
All proceeds from Saturday’s event will go to the church’s improvement fund.
