Gourmet Food Solutions in Springfield unexpectedly shut down

Hampden County

A Springfield food manufacturer has officially closed its doors.

Gourmet Food solutions in Springfield unexpectedly shut down in October, and some of the workers stopped by Thursday to pick up their final paychecks.

The Gourmet Food Solutions manufacturing plant at 124 Avocado Street had been in operation for four years before they closed in October.

Former plant worker Diana Rivera declined to speak on camera, but she told 22News the company held a mandatory meeting on October 12, announcing that the Springfield manufacturing plant would have to shut down.

Rivera said they were not told why.

22News was there when Gourmet Food Solutions hosted a tour with Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno in June, just four months before the plant closed.

The Springfield plant made dips, salsa, pesto, hummus, and salad dressings which were then sold to local grocery stores and retailers.

22News contacted Gourmet Food Solutions asking why they closed the Springfield plant.

We have not heard back.
