Governor Charlie Baker arrived at Bay Path University on Tuesday afternoon. It was the first time ever a Massachusetts governor has visited Bay Path University.
Gov. Baker’s visit included tours of the university’s life science laboratories that has new equipment that was purchased through state grants. The governor later announced more than $250,000 in state funding to boost the school’s cybersecurity program.
“Sometimes they don’t have the staff to conduct the audits and our students will get hands-on experiences,” Bay Path President Carol Leary told 22News. “Receiving that grant was extraordinary for Bay Path and we are grateful for our governor.”
Leary also told 22News the MassTech Collaborative Grant will provide 30 undergraduate and graduate cybersecurity students with internships at small and mid-size companies. The state grant helps address a growing cybersecurity job crisis here in Massachusetts.
