The Gray House in Springfield is hoping to provide 600 Thanksgiving dinners to families in need this holiday.
With your help, hundreds of families in Springfield will have something to be thankful for this holiday season; Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings.
“The whole house will be completely filled with cans and non-perishable food floor to ceiling pretty much,” Teresa Liberti, executive director at Gray House told 22News. “And hopefully we’ll get our freezer stocked with frozen turkeys as well.”
Last year, Gray House provided full Thanksgiving dinners for 650 families; one of their biggest years ever.
Right now they have 450 turkeys pledged for donation, but they still need another 150 to meet their goal.
If they get more? There are plenty of families who could use them.
Along with a food pantry, Gray House provides programs and services for adults and kids. Students in their after-school program enjoy all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner.
“My favorite thing to eat is either mashed potatoes, sweet corn, or turkey,” said Yolyannie Cintron, a 4th grader. “I sometimes like to cook the turkey with my mom.”
Gray house is looking for donations of all the traditional Thanksgiving dinner foods like vegetables, desserts, and of course turkeys.
You can drop off your donations at the Gray House on Sheldon Street.
