SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Hampden County District Attorney’s Office has partnered with an organization to help fight racism.
Hampden County DA Anthony Gulluni said racism is a serious issue across the country, and their office won’t tolerate it in the courtroom.
The DA’s Office and the “Healing Racism Institute of the Pioneer Valley” announced their new partnership at Court Square in Springfield Wednesday morning.
DA Gulluni said his office will participate in Healing Racism’s two-day seminar that will include conversations about the history of racism and its prevalence in the community.
He told 22News this partnership will help improve their work and make sure they continue to do it objectively.
“This is to refine how we do things and to make sure we are being objective,” Gulluni said. “To have that conversation around the issues of racism and bias and to make sure we are aware of it. And when it does arise, that we are aware of how to deal with it.”
The Healing Racism Institute of the Pioneer Valley holds five public seminars at Holyoke Community College each year to talk about the issue of racism.
