A group of students at Holyoke Community College took their classroom to the sky Saturday morning.

About a dozen students took part in a course to prepare them to take the Federal Aviation Administration exam, so they can become licensed drone operators.

One Florence resident who is taking the course told 22News, he was surprised with how much he learned after just one class.

“The other students are phenomenal, the instructor knows his stuff,” said Matthew Beebe. “To be getting hands on experience in the first class is a little more than expected and I’m happy about that.”

The drone pilot course will continue each Sunday till October 20.
