It happens like clockwork on Easter Sunday in the city of Holyoke, the Easter Drag, recalling the days of the fabled Easter Parades.
Tradition was well served Sunday afternoon on a stretch of Northampton Street near the iconic hot dog restaurant known as Nick’s Nest.
Families wearing their best Easter outfits strolled casually down the street. A tradition passed down from generation to generation.
Abigail Griffin, a Holyoke resident told 22News it’s become a family tradition, “Kind of a historical thing. We’ve been doing it for years now. Everybody shows up in their Easter best, has a hot dog, checks out old cars, has a good time.”
Having the good times roll, is just what the Easter Drag is all about. Keeping Holyoke tradition alive and at the same time displaying what’s current in the world of fine fashion.
