The Holyoke Yard Waste Facility is now open seven days a week.

The facility, located at 1 Berkshire Street, is open Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday through Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

According to Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse’s office, any city resident with a refuse disposal permit can use the facility to dispose of grass clippings, weeds, hedge clippings, garden waste, leaves, twigs, brush and branches.

Tree stumps, trash, and dirt are not accepted at the waste facility.

The mayor’s office also announced that Holyoke DPW will be holding household hazardous waste collections on Saturday June 9 and Saturday October 6 at the DPW garage on Canal Street. Collection will be free of charge to Holyoke residents with a 10-gallon limit per household.

Hazardous household materials include pesticides, nail polish, cleaning products, flourescent light tubes, automotive products, batters, and pool and spa chemicals.

For more information on how to dispose of these items, or to preregister, please call the DPW at 413-322-5645.
