CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Chicopee Fire Department was been sent to a house fire on 795 Chicopee Street on Saturday.
The Red Cross is supporting 15 people who were impacted by the fire. Massachusetts State Fire Marshal Public Information Officer Jake Wark told 22News three pets died in this fire and one person was taken to the hospital with injuries that are serious. Another occupant of the multi family home and a firefighter were taken to the hospital with injuries that are less serious.
“Our hearts go out to the families affected by today’s fire,” said Chicopee Fire Chief Dan Stamborski. “They’ve lost their home, and their lives have been upended at what should have been a time for joy.”
Although one cat was rescued, a dog and two other cats died in the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
