Firefighter injured after house fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – One firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital after a house fire in Springfield Saturday morning.

Springfield Fire Captain Brian Tetreault told 22News around 10:42 a.m., firefighters were called to 116 Mulberry Street for a report of a structure fire in a vacant two and a half story house. 

Captain Tetreault said when firefighters arrived, they found fire coming out of an attic window.  

One firefighter was taken to an area hospital to be treated for an eye injury. No other injuries were reported.
