SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Seven people are without a home Friday night following a house fire on Sumner Avenue.

Springfield officers were called to a fire on Sumner Avenue Friday night around 6:30 p.m. The fire was put out but the house was damaged enough that the residents will not be able to stay there. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents.

No injuries were reported. The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad determined the cause of the fire to be an electrical malfunction.
