If you have a trip planned that you’re nervous may be impacted by the hurricane you do still have some options.
Sandra Marsian of the Pioneer Valley AAA said if you purchased travel insurance you should be able to get some or all of your money back.
If not there is still a chance the airline will waive any cancelation fee you may have.
Marsian said, “Airlines are always very good about knowing when these storms are coming about eliminating cancelation fees, so you would go to your airlines website and see if your flight qualifies based on where the hurricane is going to be and the timeline which they eliminated any penalty that might be associated with the cancelation or change of your flight as a result.”
Marsian also told 22News they did have some local customers who had to cancel a cruise they were planning on taking due to the storm.
She recommends you always purchase travel insurance, to ensure you don’t lose money in the event of severe weather.
