Hundreds of people honored bold women at a conference at the MassMutual Center Friday.
“She never gave up…”
And because she never gave up, took risks, and strived to achieve her goals on the ice, Kacey Bellamy was presented with the Bold Woman Award on Friday at the 23rd annual Women’s Leadership Conference in Springfield.
Every year Baypath University gives this award to women who achieve the extraordinary and Bellamy, a three time Olympic medalist from Westfield has done just that.
22News spoke with Kacey Bellamy after she received her award and she told us it’s an honor she never thought she’d get.
“It means everything, first ever Bold Award and it’s an honor to receive this,” said Kacey Bellamy. “Home is where the heart is and just to be here in western Mass. I’m very loyal to my roots.”
For more than two decades, the conference has gathered women to honor each others experiences and celebrate mutual aspirations, something woman told 22News she was happy to take part in.
“It’s also really good to see that a lot of alumni are here and that Baypath has such an effect on them and they’re here to continue empowering women,” said Caitlin Dasilva, an alumni of Baypath University.
Bellamy also shared advice for all women chasing their dreams. She said just remember to keep a good attitude and work as hard as you can.
The Westfield native brought home a gold medal this year as a member of the 2018 U.S. Women’s Olympic Hockey Team.
