The Kiwanis Club delivered Thanksgiving baskets to Springfield families in need Wednesday.
At Nathan Bill’s restaurant in East Forest Park, the Springfield Kiwanis Club continued their 30-year tradition. They prepared dozens of meals they would soon deliver to the homes of shut-ins.
They know their efforts are appreciated.
“I get phone calls from the recipients telling us and I had one lady in tears yesterday thanking us,” said Keith Davies, event organizer. “A great event for the club and the people in the city.”
The baskets and non-perishable food items were donated by the Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, Central, Chicopee Comprehensive, and Minnechau Key Club chapters.
The Kiwanians delivered food collected by the Springfield High School Key clubs. The names of those in need were provided by the Salvation Army.
The Springfield Kiwanis Club donated the turkeys and pies.
