WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A class to help cancer patients was held Monday night at the YMCA in Westfield.

The Livestrong class series began to help those suffering from cancer get in some physical activity. Research shows that exercise has proven to improve cancer survivors’ physical health and mood.

Cancer survivor Andrea Vegas told 22News why she was interested in taking this class, “We are looking for more energy together; we are looking to extend our lives, so we can continue raising families, or looking after our grandchildren.”

The Livestrong foundation will continue partnering with the Y for classes on Mondays and Thursdays for the next 12 weeks.
