Hundreds of teens from local high schools and the Westover Job Corps were at Westover Air Reserve Base Wednesday for the annual Youth Outreach event.
The students were tasked with different activities promoting teamwork, leadership, and communication. They also got a chance to tour one of Westover’s C-5 aircraft.
Chicopee High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC instructor told 22News why this Youth Outreach program is so important for the students.
“It’s a good way for them to kind of get an experience of one, socialization, but also meeting the reserve folks, and then learning a little bit about the careers their involved with here at the reserve base,” retired Master Sgt. Peter Rollend said.
This is the ninth year that the event has been held at Westover.
