Longmeadow enforces bylaw that requires commercial vehicles to be out of sight overnight

Hampden County

Some Longmeadow residents are questioning a town bylaw.

The bylaw states that a commercial vehicle needs to be out of sight overnight. This means it must be parked in a garage or behind the house. The bylaw was written to protect property values.

Longmeadow Town Manager Stephen Crane said that if the town receives a complaint, the building inspector will follow up.

Not everyone in Longmeadow thinks enforcement of this bylaw is very important.

Phil Kass of Longmeadow told 22News, “I think there are far greater things in this world to be worried about than the effects of a commercial vehicle parked across the street than the value of my property.”

The Longmeadow town manager said the town is working to re-write the bylaw, so it is clearer and more relevant with the times.
