Longmeadow Police reminding residents to lock their cars

Hampden County

LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – The Longmeadow Police Department is warning residents to lock their car doors.

Police say their department and others nearby, have seen a recent increase in car break-ins during the overnight hours. Many of the incidents happen between midnight and 4 a.m.

Longmeadow Police Captain Carl Mazzaferro told 22News, “Our cruisers are all over town, so yes as soon as the call comes in, yes, officers will be dispatched immediately to the call.”

Police are reminding you not to leave your keys in your car, and never leave valuables in sight.

Many of the car thieves have come from out-of-state. Confronting the thieves could put you or your family in harms way, so police ask you call 911 and let them handle the situation.
