A compassionate community in Agawam rallied around a long-time business damaged by fire earlier this month.
The fire at the Lucia Lumber Company was confined to their 30-year-old maintenance building, destroying a forklift and another vehicle. The charred building was in the process of being torn down on Friday.
Owner Tammy Lucia told 22News how much she appreciates the public’s ongoing concern.
“It’s been spectacular,” Lucia said. “The heartwarming stories and interactions from other vendors, customers, other local lumber yards calling to see if they could do anything for us. I think that’s wonderful.”
The fire was confined to the maintenance building, and none of their lumber products were damaged.
