Springfield police are investigating the city’s latest homicide.
Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News a man was found dead underneath a car in a parking lot on Maple Street at around 6:15 Friday morning.
Springfield police blocked off the entrance to the apartment complex parking lot at 303 Maple Street with yellow crime scene tape, and have been investigating there all morning.
When our 22News crew got there, we could see a black car at the entrance of the parking lot facing the street with its blinker on. Police later put up a canopy in front of the car.
“Springfield Police are working diligently to keep the community safe, but as in any city, there are urban challenges highlighted by two significant incidents this week,” Walsh said.
