Man who walked away from recovery center in Springfield turns himself in

Hampden County

One of the two men who walked out of the Western Massachusetts Recovery and Wellness Center in Springfield has turned himself in.

Hampden County Sheriff Spokesman Stephen O’Neil told 22News that the man turned himself in at about 6:00 Monday night.

Two men left the Mill Street recovery center in Springfield Sunday afternoon. O’ Neil said the men were in the facility under civil commitment for substance use disorder and that this is not a criminal matter.
