SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Mayor Domenic Sarno has sent a handwritten letter to Boston Red Sox Outfielder Mookie Betts, inviting him to Springfield for a little competition.

“You’re a true ‘five-tool’ ballplayer, with ‘a great attitude and personality too!’ Sarno wrote. “I also understand that you are an outstanding bowler with 10-12 ‘300 games’ to your credit too.”

Sarno goes on to invite Betts to MGM Springfield’s bowling alley to take part in a celebrity matchup for a deserving charitable cause.

“When and if you can, please let me know,” Sarno said. “In the meantime, we’re all cheering for you and our beloved Red Sox toward another World Series Championship.”

Mr. Betts,

First of all – love watching you play. You’re a true “five-tool” ballplayer, “with a great attitude and personality too!”

I also understand that you are an outstanding bowler with 10-12 “300 games” to your credit too. With that said, I’d love to invite you to visit our brand new $1 billion MGM Springfield Resort.

It’s an exciting experience with a fantastic state of the art bowling alley just waiting for you. Maybe we could do a celebrity match for a deserving charitable cause and if I’m in it, you’ll have to “spot me 100 pins or so too!”

When and if you can, please let me know. In the meantime, we’re all cheering for you and our beloved Red Sox towards another World Series Championship.

Thanks for your consideration. Wishing you and your family good health, luck w/ continued success in all your future endeavors. Take care and God Bless.

Respectfully

Domenic J. Sarno

P.S. Hello and good health to “The Rem-dog” too.
