Plans are in place for a major renovation to the Forest Park in Springfield.
Mayor Domenic Sarno unveiled the master plan that will change the park’s look over the next five years.
Design plans are now complete and a landscaping, architect and engineering company has partnered with Parks Director Patrick Sullivan to make these plans a reality.
Don Leighton, a member of the company Beta Group told 22News they hope to make a real center of the park with room for events and possibly restaurants, “Something that would attract people throughout the year, and give a sense of a park that could be for all ages.”
The master plan also hopes to renovate the Monkey House, Brick Barn and create a new community garden.
Leighton also said it will take about a year to secure more funding for the plan.
