Members of the Irish Parliament visited the Irish Cultural Center of Western New England Thursday.
Four Irish Parliament representatives spent Thursday morning at the Irish Cultural Center in West Springfield.
Thursday’s visit began with a tour of the ICC followed by a panel discussion involving the Irish government officials, the ICC, and West Springfield Mayor William Reichelt.
“Our countries are so invested in each other on so many levels and social, cultural, business levels for all of these reasons, it’s important we are here and we keep in contact with each other,” said Niall Collins, Irish Parliament member.
Collins told 22News the Irish government has been providing funding to many organizations in the Northeast that were created to help Irish immigrants find jobs and housing in the U.S.
Collins and the other Irish parliament members will visit the Kennedy Center in Boston Thursday night before they fly back to Dublin Friday.
