Vandals on dirt bikes have damaged the Memorial Park named in honor of two murdered Springfield police officers.

The custodian at the adjoining Mary Lynch Elementary School reported the dirt biker vandalism at the park honoring the memory of officers Alain Beauregard and Michael Schiavina.

Officers Beauregard and Schiavina were murdered by a gunman in November of 1985. The memorial park was dedicated in their honor one year ago.

Springfield Park Department personnel were notified of the damage to the park’s soccer field.

Repair work will begin immediately.
