It’s never too late to realize a lifelong dream.
Mercy Life resident Ellen Moriarty became the first Senior Colleen at the West Springfield nursing care facility.
Moriarty told 22News that because her military family moved around a lot she could never participate in the Holyoke Colleen competition. Now many years later, she’s honored just prior to the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
“I am incredibly happy,” said Moriarty. “This has been a lifelong dream since I moved to Massachusetts I wanted to be a Colleen. This is coming full circle.”
Moriarty was crowned Senior Colleen by the Holyoke Colleen and her court at a gala event attended by residents of the nursing care facility.
