MGM Springfield revenues down in third month of operation

Hampden County

MGM Springfield revenues dropped in November, but the casino is still bringing in tens of millions of dollars.

The state Gaming Commission reported Monday that MGM generated $21 million in November, their third month of operation. That’s down $1 million from October.

At Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, the casino reported a 5.6 percent drop in slot revenue compared to November of last year. According to a Mohegan Sun breakdown of last month’s revenues, they considered the decline “modest” given new regional competition.

One Springfield resident said $21 million still marks a significant amount of revenue coming into the city.

“I think that the number is probably good,” George Rosario told 22News. “I feel it’s still busy down here. It’s brought a lot more of a crowd. I see it a lot more busy.”

MGM Springfield raked in $27 million in their first month of operation in September.
