SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A significant police presence is at Winthrop and Morris Street in Springfield Friday night.

Numerous reports from viewers told 22News that a lot of police were on Morris and Winthrop Street around 9:30 p.m. Friday night.

Springfield Police Department Spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that at 8:30 p.m., a 911 caller stated that they had shot someone and was armed on the 0-100 block of Winthrop Street. Officers and the ESU went to the building, but could not locate the caller or any victims.

The Detective Bureau is investigating the source of the call. 22News will continue to update this story as new information is released.
