Some big changes are in store for one of Springfield’s best-known tourist attractions.
A public viewing was held Wednesday night to showcase the first phase of the Basketball Hall of Fame’s multi-million-dollar renovation.
A reception took place in the newly renovated concourse. Also highlighted, the Hall of Fame’s state-of-the-art theater.
President & CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame John Doleva told 22News, “We’ve done about 30% of the Basketball Hall of Fame space in this first phase. Brand new lobby with wonderful interactives and basically public art, brand new theater that has a great new first time ever signature film.”
Doleva said the entire Hall of Fame renovation will be complete by 2020.
He said it’s an investment to ensure visitors understand the impact Springfield has had on basketball.
