SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Mayor Sarno and Congressman Richard Neal thanked Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy Thursday for the work he’s done while in office.

The politicians gathered at Union Station to admire the north-south rail service, and to thank Governor Malloy for making it happen.

The Connecticut Governor worked with legislators from western Massachusetts and transportation officials to help connect Springfield to Hartford by train.

Mayor Sarno made it a point to thank Governor Malloy for creating more housing and job opportunities for residents in both states.

Congressman Neal also thanked Governor Malloy for being an instrumental part of the rail service’s success.
As the next chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, Neal said he plans to prioritize infrastructure spending.

Both Congressman Neal and Mayor Sarno talked about the possibility of an east to west rail service connecting Springfield to Boston, they said they hope the project is as successful as the Connecticut line.
