SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Hampden County District Attorney’s Office has released new information about the deadly tractor trailer-car accident on Page Boulevard in Springfield earlier this week.
D.A. spokesman Jim Leydon identified the victim killed in the crash as 26-year-old Aida Hernandez, a Springfield woman who was a passenger in the car. 22News spoke with her family members during a vigil Wednesday night. Two children, ages three and seven, were also seriously injured in the accident. Leydon said neither child appeared to be in a car seat.
“Out of the 3 years I’ve been living here, yes it is the worst accident and most painful one and hit me as a mother and as a human being,” said Emely Sanchez of Springfield.
The Springfield Police Department Traffic Bureau and the Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit of the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office are continuing to look into what led up to the crash. Leydon said it appears the vehicle crossed into the path of the tractor-trailer.
Still no word on the condition of the two children in the hospital and no word on the driver of the car.
Also, no arrests have been made in connection with the deadly accident.
