New lighting and playground facilities proposed at Greenleaf Park

Upgrades could be coming to Greenleaf Park in Springfield. The state Senate voted to authorize $240,000 to the city for the installation of new lighting and playground facilities at the park.

Senator Eric Lesser proposed the funding. The bill authorizes spending on certain infrastructure projects, including support from environmental programs at the Mass DEP and other agencies.

“This bill serves as an opportunity to bring attention to local priorities at the State House. The Sixteen Acres neighborhood is long overdue for updated playground facilities, and these improvements, along with new lights, will keep it a safe and enjoyable place for our community. This is a worthy project that will improve the quality of life for our residents, and I hope Governor Baker releases the funds to make it happen,” said Sen. Lesser.

Governor Baker must now release the funds for the upgrades.
