Nonprofit organizations hoping to benefit from Giving Tuesday

Hampden County

After Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday, a day when people are encouraged to donate to charities and help people in need.

The Dakin Humane Society in Springfield provides medical care and shelter for more than 20,000 animals each year. It’s just one of many organizations you can help out today, on Giving Tuesday.

Dakin spokesperson Lee Chambers told 22News, Tuesday’s donations will go towards the ongoing care of older pets. Dakin hopes to raise $29,000 in donations on Giving Tuesday.

Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center is also hoping for donations to help care for their animals.

“All animals that come to TJO need medical care in some form or another so they can go on to their happy forever homes just like these cats! Please donate today through #GivingTuesday so we can continue to make their dreams come true,” the organization wrote on Facebook.

Valley Gives is the western Massachusetts arm for Giving Tuesday.

Donors can log onto GivingTuesday.org, search for an organization that’s making an impact in your community, and make a charitable donation.

No matter how big or small, every gift helps.

Over the last six years, Valley Gives has raised more than $10 million for Pioneer Valley nonprofits on Giving Tuesday.
