The Greater Springfield Campaign Nonviolence held a walk for nonviolence through a neighborhood in the city, where violence has occurred.
The walk began and ended at Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church. Dozens gathered to carry signs with the names of those who have died by violence in Springfield.
22News spoke with Pastor Sandra Alexander, and she said people are receptive to the event, “I have people say “good job,” I have people say “about time,” we even have people add on as we’re walking. People are happy that someone is taking the initial steps to do something about what’s going on.”
The group made several stops to pray and ended the walk with a non-violence rally which featured guest speakers.
