Nurses from Puerto Rico assisted with finding work in western Massachusetts

Hampden County

Nurses who left Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria struck last year will resume their careers in western Massachusetts.

They gathered at the MassHire Holyoke Career Center on Tuesday afternoon. The nurses learned the process they’ll need to follow before receiving their license to practice in Massachusetts.

Idalgme Rivera told 22News that she can’t wait to resume her work as a nurse helping senior citizens.

“These people are wonderful,” Rivera told 22News. “People need a lot. [They] need love, care, health. I love my work.”

The nurses learned that the adult education and workforce development division of Holyoke Community College will assist them in the procedures necessary to receive their license to practice in Massachusetts.
