One person dead after car accident in Springfield

One person is dead after a car accident in Springfield Sunday morning. 

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, police were called to the accident at Goodwin and East Laramee Green Street at approximately 12:10 a.m.

Walsh said one person was ejected from the car when it struck a tree. That victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center, where he died.

According to Springfield Fire Department Spokesperson Dennis Leger, said firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the passenger of the vehicle; he was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Walsh said the passenger was in stable condition when they arrived.

The identity of the person killed in the accident has not yet been released. The Springfield Police Department and the Hampden District Attorney’s office is investigating the crash.
