One person was seriously injured after a hit and run in Springfield early Sunday morning.

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, an individual was hit by a car on Maple Street at approximately 4:45 a.m.

Walsh said the victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center with serious, and potentially life-threatening injuries.

Police are asking the public’s help finding the car involved. According to Walsh the car is believed to be a black or dark-colored late model Nissan Maxima or Altima, and the windshield will have a crack or spider-web. Walsh said the hood could also possibly be dented.

The driver of the car, according to Walsh, left the site of the accident heading West on to State Street and then possibly the highway.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 413-787-6333.
