SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A nearly half-a-century Christmas Day tradition continues on Sunday.
From noon until 1:00 pm on Christmas Day meals gifts and clothes were donated by Open Pantry, and many volunteers got up early on Christmas morning to help out those who are less fortunate. Over 325 Meals were delivered or picked up curbside, while over 75 meals were served inside the high school’s cafeteria. Many of the communities elderly or homebound were able to indulge in the holiday meals.
“Jesus is the reason and he gave so much for us he gave his life and so we’re here to celebrate his life with people who are less fortunate,” said Marla Early-Moss.
The organization also gathered gifts and had the most amount of toys and socks they’ve ever donated this year.
