Outrun Hunger 2018 5K helps raise funds to help end childhood hunger

Hampden County

The weather was great Sunday for a lot of outdoor activities.

In Longmeadow, a lot of people got in some exercise at Outrun Hunger 2018, a 5k walk and run to raise funds to help end childhood hunger.

The route made it’s way through Longmeadow.

The teen board of Rachael’s Table was actively involved with the event.

The walk and run, which is held every two years, will help with childhood hunger programs and educating young people about hunger issues.

22News spoke with a few attendees at the race about what it means to be doing an event like this.

Rafi Rubenstein said “We’re really trying to get everyone together so they can see how they’re making a difference and how much we can do together.”

While Alexandra Marino added, “Growing up, you don’t think it’s a problem for you don’t see it but I think as we get older it’s important to the ones helping.”

This was the fourth Outrun Hunger walk and run. In 2016, more than $34,000 was raised.
