Parents, students watch drug addiction documentary at East Longmeadow H.S.

Hampden County

Parents and students filled up an East Longmeadow auditorium Thursday night to learn about substance abuse.

The East Longmeadow Youth Safety Committee held a free showing of “Just Once,” at East Longmeadow High School Thursday night.

The documentary film tells the true stories of drug addiction and recovery from the perspective of Hampden County high school students, their parents and experts in the field.

Tony Simmons, the Director of Community, Safety, and Outreach for the Hampden County DA’s Office said, “They’re stories that resonate with all of the communities throughout Hampden County. It’s an important message. It talks about how addiction is a disease. It talks about how addiction happens..what the onset is.”

The film screening was co-sponsored by the District Attorney’s Office along with the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department.
