Christmas Day is a religious holiday for many people here in western Massachusetts.
More than 100 people attended mass at St. Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee on Christmas morning. Christmas is a day when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
“What better way to start the day than to come to Mass and honor him,” said Claudette Kielbania of Chicopee.
Parishioners said there’s no place they’d rather be on a day that holds so much meaning.
“It’s a gathering of people who are like-minded, so we come to celebrate the birth of Christ,” said Chris Estey of Chicopee.
Some parishioners told 22News the Christmas Mass always brings back good memories.
“You think about when you were a little kid with your family and all the good times you had,” said Tom Kielbania of Chicopee. “It comes back every year.”
Approximately two billion people worldwide celebrate Christmas every year.
