HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – We are just hours away from the official kick off of one of the biggest annual celebrations here in the Pioneer Valley– The Holyoke St. Patrick’s Road Race and Parade.

Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade and Road Race: Routes and Information

Spokesperson for the Holyoke St. Patrick’s parade Hayley Dunn told 22News that they’re expecting large crowds at the events this weekend, and that one of the best things people can do is give themselves enough time to find parking.

If you decide to drive to the race, you can park in lots and garages downtown, or there’s also a free shuttle service running from Holyoke Community College.

On Sunday no parking is allowed on the parade route, but you can park in lots downtown for a fee.

“We are expecting 20,000 people, spectators, to come down to the streets of Holyoke tomorrow and of course a few hundred thousand on Sunday,” Dunn said.

If you’re going to be coming to watch the road race you’re gonna wanna get out there about an hour beforehand.

Saturday’s Road Race begins on Maple Street at 1:00 in the afternoon.

Sunday’s parade steps off from the Kmart plaza on Northampton street at 11:30 in the morning, ending near Holyoke City Hall.
