Pet Corner: Nena

Hampden County

Name: Nena
Location: Springfield Dakin Humane Society
Breed: Terrier/Chihuahua Long Coat
Gender: Female
Age: 7 years
Color: White with brown

Nena came to Dakin because her person couldn’t care for her any longer. She lived in her previous home her entire life and was very bonded to her person who described her as “lovable,” and said she loves belly rubs and to play with her toys. Nena does not get along with children, and should not be in a home with kids or cats. She is house trained and sleeps in her crate at night. Strangers make her nervous and she will bark when there are visitors in her home. Like many Chihuahuas, she will become super close to her person or family, letting them cuddle her and take things away from her, but a stranger won’t be able to do those things. What Nena is seeking is a nice, loving person or family she can share a cozy, warm couch with. She will reward them with lots of love.

Dakin’s Springfield adoption center has found itself with lots of interesting pets available for adoption at this time, including 6 chinchillas, 9 rabbits and 11 parakeets! There are also 2 rabbits in our Leverett adoption center. In most cases, we’re asking that people adopt more than one of them, as most of them are pair-bonded, and these animals do well with a companion that they know.
