Man suffers life-threatening injuries after being struck by vehicle in Agawam

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A man in his late 70’s was taken to a local hospital after being hit by a motor vehicle on Mill Street in Agawam Wednesday night.

Agawam Police Lt. Dan Bonafilia told 22News officers were called to the crash around 4:15 p.m., where a 77-year-old pedestrian had been hit by a motor vehicle that was traveling westbound in the area of 638 Mill Street.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with life-threatening injuries.

Police and firefighters responded to the crash, along with the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.

At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Mill Street remained closed between Franklin and Kensington Streets while police investigated the serious crash. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
