Agawam man hit by car on North Street

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – An Agawam man was hit by a car Thursday evening on North Street.

Lieutenant Dan Bonafilia told 22News, Agawam Police were called to the 300 block on North Street around 4:50 p.m. for a report of a serious pedestrian accident. A 35-year-old Agawam man was walking westbound on North Street when a vehicle also traveling westbound hit him.

The man was taken to the hospital for serious injuries but is expected to be okay. The driver of the vehicle involved stopped and is being cooperative with police.

North Street was closed from James Street to Letendre Avenue until 8:30 p.m. Thursday night as officers were investigating the accident.

The Agawam Police Department Traffic Division is continuing to investigate the accident along with the Massachusetts State Police Collision and Reconstruction Team and the District Attorney’s Office. If you have any information on the accident, you are asked to contact the Agawam Police.
