Program held in Agawam to help transgender teens, families

Hampden County

A presentation in Agawam addressed ways to help transitioning transgender children and teens Monday night.

Social Work Professor, Dr. Elijah Nealy spoke to gender-diverse youth and their families.

As a transgender man, Dr. Nealy works to guide trans people and their loved ones through the emotional and mental aspects of transitioning.

The program provides consultation and training on appropriate ways to support the trans community.

“A lot of good questions kind of came up and were answered, and a lot of good information as a parent to learn about, you know, the trans world and how things are changing,” said Peter Ellis of Agawam.

Dr. Nealy is an ordained minister who also runs his programs within faith communities.
