Rachel’s Table delivers Thanksgiving food to local pantries

Hampden County

22News was at Margaret’s Pantry in Holyoke Tuesday morning, as Judy and Peter Yaffe of Rachel’s Table delivered 30 turkeys and 600 pounds of Thanksgiving fixings.

Margaret’s Pantry is one of Rachel’s Table’s many drop-off locations donating 550 Thanksgiving dinners to Pioneer Valley agencies that help the hungry.

“I am so thrilled because there is a special place in my heart for them,” Judy told 22News. “Particularly the Thanksgiving fund because it’s really in memory of my cousin, Daydie Huchberg—who passed away ten years ago—who started the Thanksgiving fund of Rachel’s Table.”

The Director of Margaret’s Pantry, Brenda LaMagdeleine, was unable to conceal her emotions about this gift from Rachel’s Table, along with what she’s received from other agencies.

“We asked for help, we got it,” LaMagdeleine said. “So, from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you very much.”

LaMagdeleine added that the greatest gift was to give her the ability for the first time to provide a turkey to families with fewer than three children.
