LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Law enforcement officials in Longmeadow are mourning the loss of a retired police captain on Tuesday.
Stephen R. Conboy passed away at an area hospital after suffering from health complications, according to the Longmeadow Police Department. He joined the Longmeadow Police Department in 1977 and served for over 30 years. He was promoted to sergeant and then captain. He retired in 2009.
Conboy is described as “a gentle giant with a heart of gold” who always added, “levity to any situation with his infectious laugh.”
“He will be sorely missed,” the department stated.
