A school in Springfield held a can and bottle drive Saturday morning to raise money for supplies.
Students at Saint Michael’s Academy accepted donations of cans and bottles in the school’s parking lot.
They separated the cans from the bottles, and organized them so they could return them for a deposit.
The funds raised from the deposits of these bottles and cans will be used to fund activities and school items for the students.
Student Quaid Corbitt told 22News, “We are doing a bottle and can drive for our school in hopes to raise money.”
Fundraiser organizer Lisa Corbitt told 22News, “It can be used for anything from books, supplies, paint, as simple as that. Whatever the school needs it for, we’re happy to help get them some money.”
This was the first year the school held the fundraiser.
